Basking in the Sun (Poem)

Bathed in the warm sunshine
Turtles drying their shells by the riverside
Without the sun’s rays
the turtle’s proud shell becomes soft and squishy

For the sake of the most precious thing
Sometimes it looks like it’s playing

To cheer up their squishy hearts
To cheer up our squishy hearts
Sometimes we too bask in the sun

in the clear sunlight
Turtles drying their shells by the river
We take a cue from them
Lying down on the porch
