Sunny
I have been going to Atsuta Jingu Shrine often, but only for Hatsumode (New Year’s visit).
It’s not that I have suddenly become more religious or that I have a wish to be fulfilled, but simply because it feels good.
I used to have an impression of the shrine as a gorgeous place to visit in winter, but when I visit it in other seasons, I notice that my impression of the shrine changes little by little, even in one month. The change is interesting anyway. This may be because I have started writing haiku and tanka poems.
It is often said that “it is better to visit a villa at least once in each of spring, summer, fall, and winter before thinking about it” as advice to those who are buying a villa.
Deepen your impression of one place you like as much as possible. How deeply you can sense it, and how richly you can read small changes in it and feel “the beauty of things” and “wabi and sabimi”.
I think this is true for life and people as well, as I look at the deepening autumn leaves.
However, when visiting a shrine on a casual stroll like this, how much money should one offer?
In the first place, do I need it or not? Should I pay my respects each time I visit a shrine or not?
I think about it every time.
