January 19 (Diary) Akutagawa Prize announced

Sunny
A cold day.
I think I’m catching a cold.

The Akutagawa Award winners for the first half of the year have been announced.
Some people have suggested that the twice-a-year selection process is too much in recent years, but the original purpose of the Akutagawa Prize was to discover newcomers and award prizes.
But this is inevitable, since the original purpose of the prize is to discover newcomers and award them with prize money.
It is the same as the baseball draft.

Literature is also a form of entertainment. If it is not talked about, it is not worth talking about. The next problem is that “bad money drives out good money,” and good money is only bad money if it is not picked up.

After all, the announcement of the Akutagawa Award is always exciting. As both a writer and a reader, I am always impressed by the sight of someone whose work I have admired since his or her debut, and who has improved his or her work so rapidly that he or she has produced an excellent piece of work.
I can understand why some people buy only the Derby in horse racing (sorry for the strange metaphor).

Awards are important for writers. Yukio Mishima Award, Junichiro Tanizaki Award, etc. are rarely talked about, but I am sure that those who win these awards are encouraged and gain confidence.

The most difficult thing for a person to continue writing is not whether or not he or she has talent, but whether or not he or she is going in the right direction, or whether or not he or she is going in the wrong direction.

An award may be like a streetlight that lights up in the middle of the night, telling you that the path you are on is the right one.

Congratulations to Ms. Izuko Idogawa and Mr. Atsushi Sato for winning the Akutagawa Award.

A Hawaiian song will warm you up in this cold weather.

I write poetry and novels that can be read by young children. Literature is the strongest.
