January 4 (Diary) NHK BS is interesting

Sunny, sometimes light rain

I’ve been away from TV for a while now, watching only YouTube and Netflix, but I got tired of watching them and suddenly looked at the TV programs. However, commercial TV is full of commercials, noisy, and there are few programs that interest me.

So I had no choice but to turn to NHK BS. It happened to be a documentary about a family taking in a shelter dog or cat. There are videos on YouTube of people taking in shelter dogs and cats, but most of them are emotional in nature, as if the animals are gradually becoming accustomed to their owners.

This NHK program did a better job of explaining the animals’ gestures and reactions, with expert narration. For example, he said that this is the reason why they pull the reel and what to do about it.

That was the decisive difference from YouTube videos that just show a picture of the animal. They are made to properly respond to the viewer’s interest and questions.
Until recently, TV was said to be completely obsolete and YouTube was expected to surpass TV, but I was again surprised at the underlying power of TV (NHK).

Looking at the program list, there are many interesting programs. Art, history, music, and even foreign news. And when I looked at YouTube again, I couldn’t believe that just a week ago I was thinking, “I’ll be spending New Year’s on YouTube.

This is just a guess, but it seems that TV producers have been aware of the rise of YouTube, studying what is popular, incorporating the best parts, and steadily brushing up their productions.

Of course, I do not think that YouTube will die out, but I do think that content for which money, people, and time have been invested is a little bit different.

Whether the work is good or bad is another matter, but the content that is richly infused with all three is worth watching, and not just NHK’s programs.

I know there are some criticisms from the XX party and others, but as I spent my New Year’s night in bed, I thought to myself, “From now on, I’ll watch NHK BS instead of YouTube (I’m not a member of NHK).

The sun is setting as I write my New Year’s greeting card.
