October 6 (Diary) When you feel down, first go to a large bookstore

Cloudy and sometimes gusty

Whenever I feel down, I usually go to a large bookstore nearby.
I spend a lot of time browsing through the shelves of books in every field in the store.

From picture books to science, from law to astronomical observation, from medical care to red books for university entrance exams, magazines on motorcycles (which I cannot ride) and fashion, and so on. I pick up a book that catches my eye and flip through it from one side to the other.

Then, I begin to feel that the world is a big place. I find the world interesting. And for some reason, I feel invigorated. Strangely enough, this does not happen at the library. It doesn’t happen when I surf the Internet.

I think it must be because bookstores deal with the “now”. The Internet is too subjective, and the library is basically “the past.

And I will buy one book that I like the most, no matter how expensive it is.
Many times in the past, that one book has changed my life. It has helped me.

If you are feeling down and feel hopeless about yourself and the world, take a stroll through the biggest bookstore you can find. Something might change…maybe.

I am one of many or I am in the Iwashi cloud

I write poetry and novels that can be read by young children. Literature is the strongest.
