Jan. 24 (Diary) TANKA JIHATSUME

fine weather
Tomorrow, the coldest wave in decades is said to be coming. The forecast says that the minimum temperature will be -5
I couldn’t believe my eyes. I can’t believe my eyes. It’s a ski resort!
I want to bring this cold to the extreme heat….

I am still a novice at writing haiku, but I feel that I don’t have much material for haiku in winter.
However, if you look in a dictionary of seasonal words, you will find a lot of material about snow and waiting for spring, as in other seasons.

Reading the Manyoshu and Kokinshu, I am deeply impressed by the fact that no matter how hard times and circumstances were, people managed to find something beautiful, enjoyable, and delightful in their daily lives and wrote poems about it.

There may be things that can be found only in winter. Once again, I want to cherish every second of my ordinary life.

The more I learn, the more I realize the greatness of my predecessors, and the more I am overwhelmed. The more I learn, the more I realize the greatness of my predecessors.

I have taken the liberty of naming the late Hideo Yoshino as my teacher, and I am impressed by the spirit and technique of a person who has spent his entire life composing tanka poems.

In his works, Mr. Yoshino has written less than 30 good tanka poems, even though he is a famous tanka poet like Yoshihiro Yoshihiro. He also said that there are many insignificant poems.

At the same time, the number of famous poems does not necessarily mean that the poet is a great poet, and some poets are called “poetic sages” with only 10 poems. What is important is the will to preserve good poems, and I think that is exactly right.

Anyway, I will make a lot of poems. If by chance I can produce even one masterpiece that transcends time, I will be happy.

Here is a poem to try.
On a snowy day, I met someone far away, but somehow I felt closer on the way back.

I still have a long way to go.

I write poetry and novels that can be read by young children. Literature is the strongest.
