My handwriting is dirty

I have always been told that my handwriting is not good. My parents were angry at me for writing carefully because they could not read it, and they threatened me a lot that I would be in trouble in the future if I did so.

The more seriously I tried to write, the more my handwriting would end up looking like a worm. I made a big decision to learn penmanship because I knew that if I continued to write like this, I would not be able to pass the entrance examination. At that time, important documents were still written with a pen.

I had only ever held a mechanical pencil, so I started by learning how to hold it. Then, I traced the model letters from the top, but I couldn’t trace them well. I couldn’t get it right. I couldn’t get it to stick out from the model.

When I think about it, I was not good at coloring either. I may be offended if I compare calligraphy to coloring, but for me, writing something on paper was just as bad as drawing, which I was not good at.

I managed to continue penmanship for about six months, but instead of getting better, my handwriting became worse. I soon found out the cause. It was because I changed the way I held my pencil. I tried so hard to learn the ideal way to hold a pencil that I ended up holding it awkwardly. In fact, he could no longer even write his original worm-like handwriting.

In the end, I quit penmanship. I was praised for my beautiful penmanship, but when I actually tried to write with it, my handwriting was terrible. Needless to say, I hated writing even more.

Then a savior appeared. The advent of the word processor. For me, I thought it was a gift from God.

From then on, unless I had to write something, even a small note could be typed on the keyboard. Needless to say, I have mastered the blind touch and can type faster than anyone else.

I have never written a novel by hand. I probably wouldn’t be able to read it myself if I wrote it by hand.

Then came the age of the smartphone. Naturally, I have mastered flick typing and can type as fast as those schoolgirls. This is because I decided to write a novel on my smartphone. This way, I could write novels on the train or while waiting for my turn at the doctor’s office. I thought at the time that I could go into mass production 24 hours a day.

I actually wrote several novels, but the results were not very good.

The reason was that the faster I typed on the keyboard (flick), the more slippery my strokes became. In other words, the sentences become somewhat floaty.

Perhaps some of you have had the experience of writing sentences on line only, and then suddenly, when you have to write a proper sentence, even if it is an e-mail, the sentence is somewhat rushed to a conclusion, and it ends up sounding faint. I think there are some people who have experienced this.

Some novelists type their work on a word processor and then rewrite it by hand. I have heard that there are many novelists who type their first drafts by hand and then rewrite them by hand or use a word processor for polishing and proofreading. I have heard that there are many novelists who do this.

In other words, it seems that they do this by inserting handwritten text at least once. I tried it when I learned about it, and I still feel that the quality of the writing improves dramatically once the handwritten work is inserted. Perhaps the speed between handwriting and word processing input is just right for novels.

However, my handwriting is still as bad as ever, and I realized that it is not something that is automatically fixed just because I became an adult.

See you later.
